Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I schedule an intake appointment?
Please fill out an interest form and I will follow up with you to discuss your interest in therapy and add you to my waitlist. Currently, I'm not scheduling new referrals until July 2025.
  • What is a virtual provider & what does that mean for me?
I provide therapy virtually using a HIPAA video platform (Psychology Today) to conduct sessions. In order to receive services you must have a device that is capable of audio and video (i.e., Zoom, Facetime, etc). Devices such as laptops, tablets, etc. are prefered as sessions are often interrupted when utilizing a smart phone due to notifications and calls coming through. A smart phone can be used in a pinch, but not as a primary mode for therapy sessions. *Clients who work on Redstone Arsenal please be aware of limited service in certain areas & that this will need to be navigated if an issue arises with connection.
  • What is walk & talk therapy?
Walk and talk therapy incorporates the benefits of talk therapy in combination with physical exercise. Unfortunately, due to the time & coordination required for this type of treatment space is limited.
  • What is EMDR?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement and Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy. This is a therapy that utilizes bilateral movement in the body to reprocess negative beliefs that have been internalized due to past events. It is known best as a trauma therapy, but also can be helpful to address anxiety, depression, & other mental health disorders.
  • What is bilateral stimulation?
Bilateral stimulation is engaging both sides of the body in a steady back & forth motion that activates the memory processing network in the brain. This can be done with eye movements (looking side-to-side/up & down/vertically), tapping (physically tapping one side of your body and then the other), auditory (sound going back and forth between two earpieces - headphones required), or buzzers (a device held in each hand that will vibrate back & forth).
